Bind zones with Claude

Tell Claude which parts of your website you want to personalize. Claude uses AXO skills, opens the page in Chrome, and binds those areas as zones. A zone connects an area of your page and its editable fields to AXO. This is the preferred workflow for creating zone bindings.

Connect Claude to AXO and Chrome

  1. Connect Claude to AXO for the site you want to edit. Saving zone bindings needs a write-capable connection; a read-only connection can only inspect them.
  2. Use the AXO zone-binding skills supplied for your Claude setup. If you do not have them, contact AXO for setup.
  3. Follow Anthropic's Claude in Chrome setup guide to connect Chrome to Claude Cowork. Ask Claude to confirm that it can use the AXO skills, access the intended AXO site, and open your page in Chrome before binding zones.

The AXO Chrome extension is no longer publicly offered. Chrome access is provided through your Claude environment; you do not need the AXO extension for this workflow.

Ask Claude to bind the page areas

Give Claude the page URL and the content you want to change. For example:

Use the AXO skills and open https://example.com in Chrome. Bind the homepage hero as a zone with headline, image, and button fields. Check existing zones first so you update a matching zone instead of creating a duplicate. Use the homepage path only. Show me the saved zone and its fields. Leave content and publishing unchanged.

Claude uses the skills to inspect the rendered page, identify the section and its fields, and save their bindings in AXO. You describe the area; Claude finds the selectors that identify it on the page.

For another area, describe it directly: “Bind the promotion banner below the hero” or “Bind the product recommendations section on product pages.” Include the pages it should apply to.

Check the saved zones

  1. Ask Claude to show the saved zone name, page pattern, and editable fields, and identify any binding it could not verify.
  2. Open Zones in AXO. Confirm the zone applies to the intended page and includes the fields you requested.
  3. Continue with Create, preview, and publish content. Binding a zone makes the area available for personalization; you still need a content variant.

If Claude cannot access Chrome or the page, resolve that access first or use the dashboard picker. If a field points to the wrong element, ask Claude to correct that binding and show the result.
